Xzacta Shears Newsletter May 29, 2009

Bottom line on cost: from $2000.00 to max of $7245.00 ($5745.00 if you take advantage of incentives).  ...details below

1.  Training  $2500;  $500.00 non-refundable deposit required to reserve seat.  If I am unable to fulfill my obligations to you as outlined, you will be expeditiously refunded deposit or any money you have paid.  Believe me,  I'll be there if at all humanly possible;  if you pay your deposit 45 days in advance there is a $500.00 discount.  This is payable by personal check, money order, or cashiers check only. I go by post mark. I normally do not bend on this.  However, if communication has started within one week of cut-off date, at my digression, I may allow a 5 (five) working day “grace period”.  Again, I go by post mark, not when I receive it.  And in fairness to those that have already paid deposit within the 45 days, I will allow them an additional $100.00 discount.  I don't think they will object.  Or you can just wait until the next Class which is every two months currently.; balance due payable by cash, money order, or cashier's check at the beginning of class.  You may pay by personal check if received at least  5 working days in advance (without exception, it must have cleared my bank before you will be allowed in training).  You are under absolutely under no obligation to purchase my machines or system to participate in training.  Included are:  5 days training (4 nine hour days because the fifth will be testing, questions, loose ends, packing up, etc.,  all supplies, technical manual, at least 4 pairs of training shears (that you keep), a nice leisurely lunch, certificate of completion, and training that will put you among the best in the world.

note:  I have become aware that some are confused by my terminology.  I apologize and thank you for letting me know.  There are actually two separate machines.  One is the "flat hone machine" and the other is the "guide machine" that I typically refer to as the "guide system (patent pending)".  All of the above including training is called "the Xzacta Shears Ultimate Scissor Sharpening System".  There are also some other tools/ techniques unique if not revolutionary that are part of the Xzacta Shears sharpening system.

2.  Flat Hone Machine   $1995.00;   $500.00 off this price just by registering on www.xzactashears.com   ;  Payable by cash, personal check (must clear my bank before you take possession or it is shipped), money order, cashiers check.  The difference between my flat hone machine and others that "look" similar is Quality.  I have used the best components.  My hub is solid machined aluminum with a maximum tolerance of 0.003 inches.   And, if you want to pay an additional $200.00(I will not be making any money!), I will have it machined to 0.00010.  Most use a two piece Plexiglas and aluminum hub.  The 5 3/4" honing discs  are machined (not punched) 1/16"  heat treated spring steel with a manufactures tolerance of 0.001 inch over 6" 's.  If you could bend them, they will return to original shape.  They cost me more to manufacture than what others retail for.  They are without a doubt among the best and flattest in the industry... and they will stay that way.  I actually took one and drove over it with my car 10 times!!!  It was still flat… incredible.  Most use punched out mild steel.  The chassis is not powder coated, but tread plate aluminum.  With care and polishing, it will still look brand new 20 years from now.  If you would like to have yours powder coated, there is an additional cost of $250.00. Of course, many existing flat hone machines are compatible with the Xzacta Guide Machine.  I purposely did this so flat honers could at least use some of what they have already invested in.  And, if you want a flat hone that is better than the Xzacta Flat Hone Machine, consider sending me a check for $6000.00 and I will custom build it for you...really.

3.  Guide System (Machine)   $2750.00;  $500.00 off if purchased at anytime "during" training;  Payable by cash, personal check (must clear my bank before you take possession or it is shipped), money order, or cashier's check;  TRAINING IS REQUIRED TO PURCHASE;  Sorry, no sales outside continental USA presently;  Included is "everything" you need to begin sharpening: (tools, spare parts, pads, discs, receipt books, bank bag, and on & on), the revolutionary "ride honing plate", and, for a limited time only, 2 (two) pairs of Xzacta shears with a retail value of over $500.00.  A detailed inventory with pricing will be provided for your accounting purposes. Xzacta "scissors" are sold exclusively by myself and technicians that have purchased the "guide" system.  And we will not compete with each other  on the internet.    I reserve the right to sell or not sell to you.  What you sell your scissors for in your area is strictly up to you.  I don't care if you give them away.  My shears are outstanding and I don't want them sharpened on anything but the Xzacta Sharpening System.  And of course you are totally free to sell any brand of scissors you choose.  XZACTA SHEARS SCISSOR SERUM…awesome.  This is another innovation to our industry.  I have formulated a 100% vegan scissor lubricant. It contains  more than 16 oils and waxes.  The proportions are critical.  Most are extra virgin, or expeller, and some are unfiltered. It provides excellent lubrication and protection to scissors.  Now this is what is really cool…  It is just fantastic on your hands and feet!  It also has very powerful anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties.  This is going to be one hot seller and sales ice-breaker in the salons.  Although expensive,  it is an awesome furniture polish..yep.  My sisters are my quality control experts, and they love it.  It should be available for retail by July 13.   All you may need to do when you get home is business cards, bank account, and possible credit card terminal.

4.  Warranty and Returns    The Flat Hone Machine and Guide System (Machine) have a full 1 (one) year warranty on parts and labor, and free shipping back to you.  This does not include any accidental or deliberate damage, negligence, acts of God, electrical power surges or spikes, or lightning.  To keep this simple, "Take care of your machines and we will take care of you".
There are no refunds.  In case of possible damage in shipping, electrical, or mechanical malfunction, we reserve the right, at our digression exclusively, to repair or replace.  Time will be the utmost consideration in this decision.  We will do everything possible to get you back in business as quickly as possible.  Returns will be done by "two day UPS" with signature required for delivery.  We remain totally responsible for your machine/s while in our possession and during transit back to you.  In a nut shell, "Our service will be fast, courteous, reliable, and honest".

So there you go.  I hope I cleared things up.  If not please let me know.  Training will be at Holiday Inn Express right across the street from Silver Springs.  I obtained rates at $70.00/night.  But I recommend "Value Express" (about a mile away and I pick you up in the morning) as it is brand new, very nice, has stove & frig. and is only $199.00 for seven nights.  And you are right between 2 barbeque places.  I understand travel is expensive.  All of this is expensive and that is why I have offered the incentives.  All I can say is that what you will be getting is worth much more than the full price.  You will be getting independence, your own business, the best training, the best machines and system, and a way to make a good living.  I'm not going to promise you a six figure income though that is possible.  But, if you can't make at least $40,000.00, then you either  have a lousy personality or you are not getting out there and working.  And I can't do anything about that.  My success is absolutely 100% dependent on my technicians.  I will do everything I possibly can to assist you in your success, even after the sell.  You will be allowed communication with the Xzacta family if you so choose.   Your name or any information will not be shared without your expressed permission.  There's just so much more.  I really hope you will make an Xzacta decision.

The Fine Print:  All terms, offer, prices, and conditions are subject to change or withdrawal without notice.  Once you have paid your deposit, everything is binding and there will be absolutely no changes or surprises.  I have not fully edited this, so this is really just in case I made a mistake.  Permission to print is granted strictly for personal or legal use and must be in the whole and unaltered form as presented to the original recipient.  It many not be shared in whole or in part via email, blog, or the internet without my permission.  This may supersede any previous newsletter.

We will go into all the mechanics of the machine later and why it is so good and an incredible value.

B… XZACTA SHEARS ULTIMATE SCISSOR AND SHEARS GUIDE SYSTEM…..”the future of Salon Scissor Sharpening

My baby………only $2,750.00

If purchased during training….. TAKE OFF $500.00.…

THIS INCREDIBLE SAVINGS… ONLY $2,250.00 !!!

Important note: TRAINING IS REQUIRED AT THIS TIME TO PURCHASE “THE XZACTA SHEARS GUIDE SYSTEM. You do NOT have to purchase guide system to take training. You may purchase at any time after completion of training

This is what it will do ….. IT WILL SHARPEN SCISSORS THAT HAVE CONVEX OR BEVEL EDGES OF “ANY RADIUS” WITH A PRECISE, ACCURATE, AND CONSISTENT ANGLE ALONG THE BLADE…PERFECTLY!

And if you are concerned about twisted or torsional blades, it will compensate for this very easily.

I’ll get into all the details in another email. Let’s get this cost thing out of the way.

C. TRAINING CLASSES “required to purchase Guide System”

5 FULL DAYS… only $2,500.00

 1. $500.00 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit required to reserve seat

2. Pay deposit 45 days in advance and receive a $500.00 discount off price… that’s $2000.00

3. Get paid $100.00 for each person you refer that signs up for training (you must be registered by paying deposit). You will be paid as soon as they pay their $500.00 deposit. As an example: a wife signs up (pays her deposit)…. The next day, she refers her husband who sends in his deposit… I mail her a check for $100.00 and then they fuss about who gets the money…just kidding. Seriously, it’s an easy way to recover some of your money. Let’s go even further…. I will pay you $200.00 after you refer 10 people. I know some of you will do this… good luck.

4. Classes will be available the FIRST MONDAY OF JUNE 2009

5. Classes will be held in Ocala, Florida (probably at Holiday Inn Express across the street from world famous Silver Spring). Ocala is about 70 miles from Orlando, 90 from Tampa, and 100 from Jacksonville. There are a couple of shuttles that run daily to and from the Orlando International Airport for those who do not want to rent a car. The cost a few months ago was $45.00.

6. You are responsible for paying for and arranging all transportation, lodging, meals, etc. We do take a nice leisurely group lunch and I pay the bill. I have tentatively arranged group rates at Holiday Inn Express (about $80.00/day). The rooms have two queen beds. A hot breakfast is included. There is another place not very far away called “VALUE EXPRESS”. They advertise $199.00/week. It is brand new, but I have to check it out. Will let you know. I will pick you up in mornings so long as you stay within a reasonable distance from where classes are held.

7. You must attend all 5 days in order to receive certification certificate.

8. Payment for Training: Due at beginning or prior to start of class. Payment may be made by cash, cashier’s check, or Visa/Mastercard. Do not send your credit card information via mail…for your protection call it in. Personal checks must be received nlt 7 days prior to class and must clear bank. I highly recommend “cashier’s check”. There will be an additional 3% service charge for credit card.

9. WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN CLASS???

Very briefly you will learn how to be one of the very best scissor sharpeners in the world (assuming you are using the Xzacta Guide System). In five days, I’m going to teach you everything I know about sharpening scissors and introducing you to some things that I don’t believe you’re going to learn anywhere else and one piece of equipment that I know is not available anywhere else. I made it. In five days, you will be able to sit down with anyone in the world and at least equal and probably beat most…including yours truly. I am very serious. You will learn sales, presentation, how to efficiently work your area, how to overcome objections, and much more. However, most of the time, we’re going to be sharpening scissors. YOU WILL BE SHARPENING SCISSORS THE MORNING OF THE FIRST DAY. I’m going to put you on a scissor sharpening machine…give you a push…hold you up very briefly…and let go. It’s going to be lots of fun. I can’t wait. There will be a tremendous amount of hands on. You will learn how to free hand, and be introduced to another system. We’re even going to deliberately destroy scissors and see if you can fix them. You will know when to try and when to say, “I’m sorry…it’s time to consider a new purchase”. We are not going to be doing clippers or cuticle nippers. When you are an Exacta Sharpener, you really won’t have time.

D… INDEPENDENCE…. It’s free!!!

1. Once you complete your training, purchase your equipment, and supplies “you will be free as a bird” except for free continued support that you are guaranteed to receive. My success is totally dependent on your success. I will do everything I can to help you with that. Phone calls, emails, whatever….anytime you need help or have a question.

2. NO PROTECTED TERRITORY…. So there’s nothing to pay for!!!

I believe very strongly that if you are a very good sharpener that you do not need a protected territory. If you are good, you will be the competition. If you are not good, you will fail, and a protected territory would not do you any good.

 2. TECHNICAL AND MECHANICS COMING TOMORROW So I don’t blow up your OutLook Express with all this text, I’m going to stop for today. DETAILS OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE MACHINE AND SYSTEM AND WHY I BELIEVE IT WILL BE YOUR CHOICE WILL BE COVERED TOMORROW. It is really hard not to get into deficiencies of other machines and systems. It’s really hard when I know they are not telling you the truth. It’s just my policy to try and stay away from that. I know everyone claims to have the best and so on. I understand the difficulty in making a decision, particularly if you have no experience. All I can do is ask that you allow me the opportunity to show you why the XZACTA SHEARS SYSTEM IS EVERYTHING I SAY…THAT’S THE TRUTH. At least we have the money stuff out of the way. Please email me with your questions and concerns and I’ll address them tomorrow in newsletter or respond personally.

Thank you so much,

Ryan Parrish

XZACTA SHEARS NEWSLETTER 3-3-09

Corrections and clarifications from NL 3-1-09

1. Referral Incentives: You must pay $500.00 training retainer to receive any compensation. You must pay the full amount for training to receive more than $300.00. You will be paid $100.00 for each of the first ten referrals. Then you will be paid $200.00 for each person referred after the first ten. After you have paid training in full, the sky’s the limit.

2. Somewhere I spelled Xzacta wrong… made me laugh.

… another long one… here we go!

Details- Xzacta Flat Hone Machine (the little square looking box)

1. Has the very best industrial components available.

2. Everything possible is aluminum or stainless steel.

3. Chassis is made from “tread plate” or “diamond plate” as many people call it. My first prototype was made of this and so many people liked it, so this is what I decided to go with. It is a great attention getter in salons and is just very industrial, practical, and strong. This is the same stuff you see heavy duty pick-up truck tool boxes made of. It easily cleans with a Mr. Clean “Magic Eraser”. No paint to chip! Makes a fantastic heat sink for motor and electronic controller.

4. Has separate “on-off switch“, “forward-electronic breaking-reverse switch“, “speed control”, fuse, power receptacle, a.c. receptacle. The electronic breaking is a feature that many flat hones do not have. It is a time saver and a great convenience. Time is money. When you switch from either forward or reverse it stops nearly instantly. Adding electronic breaking requires a special controller increasing manufacturing cost approximately $100.00.

5. Uses a BisonGear 1/6 HP 90volt permanent magnet DC Motor, 1800 rpm, 90 inch/lbs. torque, oversized brushes (very durable and very easily replaced… the hardest part is taking screws out of chassis… we will do this in class so you know how and so you can see everything inside), explosion proof (I didn’t want to put this in, but many dc motors can literally explode… this one is guaranteed not to do so… makes me feel better), bearings are oversized and double sealed (this is important since we are using micro abrasives), runs so cool and sweet (when I was testing this motor I ran one over 8 hours and it was just slightly more than warm to the touch and it wasn’t even heat sinked… awesome). The motor is mounted on both the top and bottom of the chassis so it is very secure and has an incredible heat sink. The motor is available from Xzacta, BisonGear, numerous number of distributors, and probably a lot of your local motor shops (I do expect that this motor will last for many years… just wanted to let you know that it is easily available).

6. Uses an awesome KB controller that is actually rated to run a ½ HP motor at 180 volts dc. It maintains constant torque (power) down to about 20% speed. It is not a good idea to run any motor below 20% speed for an extended period of time. I sharpen from 30% to a max of 60% speed when polishing. It’s biggest enemy is an “electrical power surge”. It is imperative that a surge protector (provided with purchase) is always installed. It is fused at four amps for additional protection. Do not use more than 10 amp fuse or wrap fuse with aluminum foil . The controller is one of the more expensive components of the flat hone and the most time consuming to replace. This one is a work horse and you should have no problem if you heed the above. It is tested for four hours before chassis assembly and the one you use in class will be the one you take home with you. You will know that you have a machine that will be working properly when you get home and are ready to start making some money.

The controller has a heat sink that is mounted on a giant heat sink (the chassis). In testing, I cannot discern any heating. This is very good. Heat is a big enemy of controllers and motors.

It is also available from Xzacta Shears, KB, and many distributors.

7. The dimensions of the chassis are approximately 6.5” wide, 6.5” deep, and 8” tall. Most flat hones that are close to these dimensions, such as the Scimech, Scissor-Tech, etc., will work in the Xzacta Shears Guide System. I deliberately did this so you that have already invested in other flat hones may use them. However, it does look more professional when everything matches. If you are going to use a flat hone other than Xzacta, CHECK TO SEE THAT THE CABINET IS IN SQUARE AND THAT THE HONING PLATE IS ABSOLUTELY PARALLEL TO THE BOTTOM. THIS IS IMPERITIVE FOR ACCURACY. I cannot stress enough how important this is when using our guide system.

MY BABY, THE “PATENT PENDING” XZACTA SHEARS GUIDE SYSTEM

1. I’ve had a couple of you email me and ask when I was going to show the “guide arm”. I assume you are referring to the arms that are all so similar on systems such as Scimech, Kuda, Hira-tu (did I spell that right?), and many others. They are all pretty much the same thing with various clamping devices. THE XZACTA SYSTEM IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM ANYTHING THAT I KNOW ABOUT AND IS WHY IT IS PATENT PENDING and why I have paid my patent attorney over $5,000.00 to date with more to come. It doesn’t have any elbows sticking out like these others. It solves a lot of problems that are inherent in such systems. It has never been done before in the use of any commercially available scissor sharpening machine.

If you got my pictures yesterday, you have seen the whole thing minus supplies etc., that you will get with purchase. Most of the guide mechanism is between the back of the chassis and the protection cover behind the back of the flat hone. There is a space there of about 3 inches and that is where the goodies are. I am not going to display this publicly as I am not protected internationally yet and will not be for some time. I will be doing a U-tube video in the coming weeks so you can see it in action and I can demonstrate the accuracy. It is the future of scissor sharpening. Let me try and explain how it works.

On the picture, you can see the two vertical parallel “rails” sticking up that the scissor clamp mechanism is attached to. They are made in one piece, and are exactly parallel to each other. This rail (two rails) goes down inside two parallel bearings that are made in one piece. We will call this the vertical bearing. This bearing is mechanically attached to an identical bearing except it runs horizontally (horizontal bearing) and it slips over another rail identical to the one you can see except that it runs horizontally and is in fixed position and attached to the chassis (it is the only part that is stationary). The scissor clamp will now move vertically, horizontally, and any direction laterally at the discretion of the technician. This means that the clamped-in scissor blade will do the same thing and at whatever angle that is set for sharpening. The scissor is clamped in so that only the outside ¼” of the pad is ever engaged. “This is the only way you can take off an equal amount of metal along the blade… the only way period”. On the horizontal rail there are two movable stops that you set so that the tip will not run off the pad and the other is set so you cannot run to far in. You engage each portion of the edge of the blade equally. It follows exactly whatever radius is on the blade… straight, 800 mm, 500mm, 1200mm, etc. It doesn’t care... It will follow it precisely. You can change the radius if you desire only by engaging certain portions of the blade more than others. There is no system that will on it’s own restore a radius… even what I call “the 800mm boys“. So you have a perfect system in Xzacta? … one that will sharpen any radius, any curved or bowed blade, and convex or beveled edges with a “precise” angle along the blade and maintain factory specifications. Well… Almost perfect! Scissors aren’t perfect. We have these scissors that have a twisted or torsioned blade. I call them “torxed-out” shears (not in dictionary). I call those that harp on this “the torxed-out boys”. Are we having fun yet? Anyhow, the twist on many of these scissors is not consistent or even. It is will generally increase more towards the tip. The reason this is done is because the blades will flex more as they move toward the tip and this keeps them engaged. The amount of torx as I call it varies tremendously with different scissors. It is usually a few degrees and some a little more. Anyhow our nearly perfect sharpening system has a beautiful flaw because it is made out of metal and it will flex just like it’s best friend Mr. Scissor. So we have a very cool method to compensate for these torxed-out friends. I call it the ANTI-TORX. It is so easy and you will learn it in class. So we don’t have a totally perfect machine and that is why I call it a system. It is actually very simple, but difficult to explain. The upcoming video will makes things clearer.

Lest you start thinking me torxed-out, let us continue…

2. Even though the scissor guide is very simple, it is extremely difficult to build or manufacture. Everything from the chassis, rails, clamp, bearings, flat hone machine, clamp armature has to be precisely either/and/or “in square“, perpendicular, parallel to all the other parts. So what visually looks simple, is an extremely precise, sophisticated made machine. It is worth much more than the current price. I personally check each and every machine. It will be right on.

3. Everything on the guide system (machine) is either stainless steel or aluminum… everything. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WASH AND CLEAN IT IN YOUR SHOWER… I’M SERIOUS AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS.

4. More on the rails and bearings: The rails and bearings that are used are manufactured by a company named IGUS. Check it out at HTTP://WWW.IGUS.COM

These particular ones are used in highly industrial applications and made to use on machinery that runs sometimes 24 hours/day. They require no lubrication and as such can be used in dusty or dirty environments… perfect for our application. The ones I’m using are designed to handle a 250 lb. load… I haven’t sharpened any shears that big yet. THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE! The bearings have a patented polymer insert that is easily replaceable and relatively inexpensive. They require absolutely no lubrication and the company recommends water and mild dish detergent for cleaning. I told you could put it in the shower… not the dishwasher! All you have to do is keep them as clean as possible and they are going to last you for years and years. This was over-kill on my part, but after all I wanted the best… I got it and you can have it too.

5. Like the flat hone machine, there is a one year parts and labor warranty including shipping back to you. It does not cover neglect, damage, or abuse.

OTHER COMPANIES

1. As I said last night, I really don’t like to be negative towards competitors and I especially don’t like to bring up names. But, I do sometimes kind of hint around it so you can probably figure out who I’m talking about. Some of these people are very honorable and some are wolves in sheep's clothing. Be careful! It’s hard to tell sometimes even if you are experienced. And some really do think they have the best system. They don’t know about Xzacta yet. And some know they don’t, but are in way to deep to quit. Let me give you a very good example: I once worked in a salon that sold the very best most expensive hair products. We were a couple of doors down from a “Dollar Tree”. One day I asked my boss, “If you found out that hair products at the ‘Dollar Tree’ were just as good or better than ours… would you tell our customers?”. He replied, (let me be polite), “Heck No”.

…enough said.
